here were a lot of sick rumors about Samsung Galaxy S2 getting Ice Cream Sandwich update. A week ago, Samsung Philippines tweeted that the device was getting ICS update on March 10, but a few hours later Samsung came forward with an official statement that Samsung Philippines made a mistake by posting the March 10 release date for Android 4.0 ICS for Galaxy S2.
Samsung Galaxy S2 owners might be feeling bad that one of the most powerful smartphone today is running the old version of Android. Today Samsung has announced something interesting on their official blog that will surely put a smile on all Galaxy S2 owners’ faces.

Those who have been waiting for the ICS update for a long time can now breathe a sigh of relief as it’s finally here. The company is all set to roll out the first official ICS update for Galaxy S2 I9100 device. South Korea, Poland, Hungary and Sweden are one of the first few countries who will be getting Ice Cream Sandwich update, and it’ll gradually be rolled out in the other parts of the world.

How To View Facebook Photos In Full Screen Mode

What’s new? In the new photo viewer, Facebook photos will automatically appear in the highest resolution possible. This news could be exciting for users who use Facebook on large monitors as they will now see up to 4 times bigger pictures than before. Second new feature brings Full Screen viewing. Users are now allowed to browse Facebook Photos in full screen mode, just like Windows Photo Viewer. The full screen feature in only available for Firefox and Chrome browser.

View Facebook Photos In Full Screen Mode

You can now view Facebook photos in full screen mode with black background and no annoying sidebar. There are two ways to switch to full screen mode. One way is, while viewing a photo, to click the ‘Arrow’ at the top right corner of the photo, and it will expand to full screen. Another way to activate full screen mode is hit the ‘Options’ button at the bottom of a photo in the photo viewer and then select ‘Full Screen’ from the menu that appears. Take a look at the screenshot below to know how it will be done.

During full screen mode, you can still like/share the photo and submit your comments. You’re provided with a few options across the bottom, including Like, Share, Comments, Tag Photos and options. You can use these features the same way you used to. If you want, you can still make Sidebar display in the right side by hitting the ‘Comments’ button. A right sidebar will pop-up, as you try to comment on the picture during full screen mode.
You can use left and right arrows to move to the next photo. Hitting the ‘Esc’ key on your keyboard will deactivate the full screen mode and take you back to the normal mode. There should be a keyboard shortcut, but I don’t know yet what keyboard shortcut is used for switching to full screen mode. If anybody knows, please share with us in the comments section below. Google has recently released an application named ‘My Chrome Theme’, which is available for download at the Chrome Web Store. As it’s name indicates, it will let you create your own customized theme for Google Chrome in the easiest way possible. The process is quite simple and anybody can make their browser look the way they want. In this post, I’m going to tell you how to use ‘My Chrome Theme’ and create your first ever Google Chrome theme using this tool.

Build A Custom Google Chrome Theme

The first thing you need to do is install ‘My Chrome Theme’ in your Chrome browser. It installs like any other Chrome extensions. Once installation has completed, you’ll see ‘Launch App’ button at the top right of the extension webpage. Click that button, and it will open a new tab where you can build custom Google Chrome theme with your own picture and design. Hit ‘Start Making Theme’ to get started.
On the next page, you’ll be asked to upload an image. This image will be used as the background image on Google Chrome. It also allows you to take a picture using your webcam. Once uploaded, it’s time to adjust the position of the image, like you can change the position to fit or centre or anything.

Next, you will be provided with a color picker tool, using which you can choose your favourite colors for Toolbar, Background Tab and Frame. Move the slider to ‘Preview mode’ at the bottom of the Theme Builder to see what the final result will look like.
In the last step, you have to give a name and description to your theme and click ‘Make My Theme’. It’ll take a few seconds to generate the theme, and shortly ‘Install My Theme’ button will appear on the webpage. You have to click that button to apply the just created theme on your Google Chrome browser. You’ll also be given a unique url to share your customized theme with your friends or anyone else.

‘My Chrome Theme’ is an awesome and easy-to-use tool. It took me less than a minute to build a custom theme and give a new look to my Google Chrome browser. How To Use Whatsapp On Windows PC

Whatsapp is a popular messaging application available for almost all mobile platforms, including Android, iOS and Symbian. You can chat with your long-distance friends for free as long as you both have Whatsapp messenger installed. It works wonders, even over GPRS or EDGE. You can also send media files (Audio, Video, Pictures) to your friends via Whatsapp messenger.
If you haven’t tried Whatsapp yet, you must install this wonderful application right now. A few of my blog’s readers have asked me earlier how to install it on PC. Whatsapp messenger is only available for mobile devices, there is no official application for Windows or Mac OS, but there’s a trick for everything. So today I’m going to tell you about installing and using Whatsapp on Windows PC.

Here, I’ll be using BlueStacks Windows app, which is a Android Apps player that will help you to run Android applications on your PC. I have reviewed BlueStacks app earlier on this blog. Without much ado, let me tell you the instructions to chat with your Whatsapp friends on your PC. More after the break.

How To Install Whatsapp On PC

Step 1 – First of all, you need to download BlueStacks on your Windows machine. The size of this app is about 150 MB. Once downloaded, install the app on your PC. It will take a few minutes, and it installs like any other Windows app. After you have installed it, a new BlueStacks icon will appear in the system tray. Launch the app and there, you’ll find 10 pre-loaded apps with icons of each one.
Step 2 – Now to add Whatsapp messenger in BlueStacks player, click the right navigate button to see the ‘More Apps’ icon. Click on it, and it will take you to a browser window with BlueStack Cloud Connect website opened. Log in to the website using Facebook connect and then you’ll be asked to install BlueStack Cloud Connect app in your Android phone. This app will be used to sync the applications between your mobile device and BlueStacks player.

Step 3 – Once installed, launch BlueStacks Cloud Connect app in your phone and enter the PIN, which was given to you in the previous step. Next, you’ll be shown the list of applications installed in your phone. Click the check box next to Whatsapp and hit the Sync button at the top. Have a look at the screenshot below.

Step 4 – After a few minutes, Whatsapp messenger will be added to BlueStacks Player in your PC. Restart the BlueStacks app for the changes to take effect. Now if there is a Whatsapp icon in your BlueStacks app, launch the messenger by clicking on it, and it will start the installation process the same way it does on phone.
Step 5 – During installation, it will ask you to enter a mobile number and then it will send a SMS to your number. In phone, Whatsapp waits for the SMS to arrive and automatically activates the messenger, but you are installing it on PC so you will have to wait for 4 minutes to verify using phone call. You’ll then receive an automated call with verification code. Once you have done all the steps, you are ready to use Whatsapp on your PC.
That’s it !! Whatsapp messenger on your PC will look the same as you can see in the first screenshot. You will be provided with a virtual keyboard, much like Android, to operate Whatsapp Messenger. You can also use your PC keyboard for chatting purpose. But there’s still a problem. Whatsapp on PC will not show your contacts list from the phone. Note – If you install Whatsapp Messenger on your Windows PC, you can’t use it in your phone as it’s not allowed to use this messenger on two devices at the same time. To get Whatsapp Messenger working again on your phone, you’ll first have to remove Whatsapp from BlueStacks. To do so, head over to BlueStacks Cloud Connect website (Same as the Step 2) and hit ‘Unsubscribe’ beneath Whatsapp icon, and then reinstall Whatsapp in your phone.
It’s quite a long process but there is no other way to get Whatsapp Messenger working on a Windows machine. Google Public DNS reaches 70 billion DNS queries a day

Google public DNS came to life in December of 2009 as a means to help the Internet. ISPs DNS servers can be slow, spammy, or unreliable.

Which is a lot if you think about it.
What is dns? Dns is like a phone book of sorts to the Internet. It converts a domain name like arstechnica to a series of numbers ***.***.***.*** so that your computer can understand them. We dont like #’s and computers don’t like letters.
I’m surprised that google dns is handling so much traffic. It’s just absurd how much dns traffic can be done in a day.
Want to use Google dns? Easy.
Change your dns servers to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. And restart your computer or router depending on where you set it. Nothing else has to be configured – just that easy.

• Does the website offer secure pages to enter your credit and bank card information to include personal information?
• Does the website have an SSL certificate?

For the record, you should become familiar with the lock symbol which can be located at the bottom of the page.  This means that the page you are on is secure and safe to enter your financial and personal information.   Look at the web address located at the top of your browser. Ensure the URL reads, HTTPS (“S” means secure).  The lock symbol, and the “https” lets you know that the page is now safe and secure and you can now submit your information needed for purchases.

SSL certificates rearrange your data allowing it to travel safely from your computer to the website, where it is then unscrambled for use.
3.      Shop only on protected websites that have been scanned

Some people confuse the terms safe and secure with most believing they mean the same thing when it comes to online security.  Having websites that have not been scanned is much the same as the doors to your bank account being wide open.  It is a proven fact that almost seventy-five percent of online websites contain vulnerabilities that hackers eagerly use to harvest information from.  This proves scary, but what proves even scarier is that the majority of website owners believe their websites are protected.

The fact is, website security in general has proved so inept that large credit companies such as MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover have bonded together with forming what is called the Payment Card Industry Council.  This council protects customers and websites who use credit cards from credit fraud and identity thefts while making purchases online.

• The PCI council requires PCI scans on new websites that process and accepts credit cards for payments.  The PCI scan searches for vulnerabilities. Once the website is scanned, reports are produced and handed over to the website owner, so they can correct any vulnerabilities present.
• PCI scanning is not always enforced by website owners, and this means that if you conduct business on their website, your personal and financial information will not be safe.

4.      Look for security scanned seals

How do you know the seals are genuine?  Unbelievably, there are shrouded website owners who will copy and paste security seals and put them on their websites. They do this lamentable task because they know viewing the “seal” will increase your confidence about shopping on their website.  Companies such as McAfee have tackled this problem with the greatest of expertise.  Legitimate companies such as McAfee create secure seals that prove highly susceptible to this practice. Mcafee security seals contain security features mixed in with copy and pasting features.

How can you identify a genuine security seal?

• You will find that true security seals contain extensive details, and they will include the companies name or website inside of the seal.  This makes it difficult to duplicate.  Legitimate seals will also contain “Passed with the current date” or “Valid through a future date”.

• If you drag your mouse over the seal and continue to hold it there, on the bottom of your browser window, you will see a URL that begins with “https”.
